so this is christmas..

As I get older and older, the Christmas season feels less and less festive. As to why that is, I am not entirely sure. It's probably because the time from december 1st to the 25th flies by. The rituals of Christmas leading up to the 25th is what I look most forward to; the time has passed when Christmas day was the only exciting thing about the season. These pics made me think of the holidaysss so I thought I would shareeee! Merryyy christmas...more pics of the festivities too come!

art class proceedings..

This is what it looks like on a piece of paper!

I have been working on this print for the last couple of months in Art class! I took the inspiration from the top photo of a Schiaparelli hat design. My final product is going to be a book with several prints of Schiaparelli designs. This is only one of the three! I'll post some pics of the final project soon!

the book thingg

For a Sunday I managed to fit a lot in! Started off my morning with some breakfast at Petes Grill! It happens to be the same place Michel Phelps goes for breakfast. Maybe not anymore but either way I get kind of excited over it. Then my brother had me go to "The Book Thing". They have a ton of books that you can take for free. I stocked up on some magazines! Walking out of somewhere with a handful of items without paying was odd! Then I had lunch at Petite Louis. The most amazing place to get fries and french onion soup. I could probably eat there every day of the week! yummm! After that I did nothing...so maybe I did not do as much with my day after all..but some homemade veggie chili in front of a fire and a little joy ride to get magnum chocolate bars was the perfect way to end my day!
alsooo blind pilot's song, one red thread..a new fall fav!

To Reminisce

Nylon has become one of my favorite magazines. I find Vogue, frankly, intimidating with it's enormous articles about issues that a) don't have any relevance to my interest in fashion and b) these articles are too long, let's be honest, I'm really picking up the magazine because I am drawn by the photos not necessarily because I am itching to read the 3 page articles within. So back to my earlier point, Nylon is a favorite of mine. The range of articles in it is so different from any other magazine. They include everything from fashion to music, to photography and even books.
So here in lies my reason for writing this....I recently came across an article about Maine. I had to do a doubletake. I wouldn't ever describe Maine as cosmopolitan with sophisticated people like you might see in NYC, so to read of it in a magazine such as Nylon, if possible, made me like the magazine even more!
I have spent my summer's in Maine since I can remember. It is on a tiny island on the Casco Bay that my happiest summer memories have occurred. My time in Maine has given me appreciation for the calm and the quiet. I truly had to learn how to do nothing and enjoy the tranquillity of life and summer days. My summer days consisted/consists of bike rides, picnics,  and reading (ALOT of reading). I could probably blame Maine for my excessive love of reading, but I'm not complaining!! So it was this article in Nylon that made me reminisce about my summers in Maine. Because of the time I have spent in Maine,  my first thoughts of the state go way beyond the typical ideals of lobsters, portland, woopie pies (yummm) and ferry's, though I do indulge in all of those at some point and time.

Fall Loves...

There is something about Fall that I just love. Thanksgiving and Halloween are for some reason two of my favorite holidays. Christmas is too much of a bittersweet holiday...but with that said I can't say that the christmas parties aren't something that I look forward to every season.
These photos have now inspired me to put on a harvest fest. Apple bobbing??...what's not fun about that. And then there is always carving pumpkins. I am sad to say that I have not carved pumpkins in a while...I'll defiantly need to do that this year. And apparently there is a halloween lantern festival this year. Ill need to figure out the date of that; that will be a good opportunity to take some amazing pictures. Hopefully I'll be very busy this fall...ihglshdglshg..finallyyy..something to do with my time other then netflix!

Cider & Sweaters

I feel like this is the first real fall weekend! I have had my fair share of pumpkin spice lattes, cider, and some cappuccinos. I was also able to rummage through my closet and pull out all my favorite sweaters. Sweaters are exactly the reason I love fall. And the times I was not looking for my sweaters and filling up with hot drinks, I spent some time developing photos to put on my wall! More pics of my collage progress to come...

Misplaced Nostalgia

Maybe it's because I am fascinated by Marie Antoinette...that is the one simple explanation I can give at the moment for my instant love of these photos... I haven't quite figured out the other reasons I am so drawn to them. Either way I'm in lovee. And yesss.... I am aware I am way behind, these were Wildfox's spring campaign but who said we cant continue to relish in the beauty of these photographs.
As for my second reason for why I love these photos..... it has to be because of my misplaced nostalgia for times I never lived in. What an amazing thing it would be to experience the time of Marie Antoinette...but only for the clothes and the parties, I could do without everything else!
Yup, it's defiantly Misplaced Nostalgia!
